Tomorrow Is Never Coming

Headed out for New York town on a dark November day
Thinking about "The Christian Life" and all that Jesus said
Wisdom abounds, but where is it found
I spend my whole wandering trying to track that spirit down

Searched the words of saints and sages who drifted around the land
In border songs and ballads from guitars in poor men's hands
From the eastern shore to the canyon floor
I'm looking for a reason in a face I've seen before

Chorus:
And I don't know if I should be running
Down that road I'm travelling on
For tomorrow is never coming
I just keep singing my highway song

Started drinking warm red wine and listening to a bluegrass band
The fog hangs gently overhead with the Trinity close at hand
Fools shuffling by, truth in the sky
The folly of my fellow man it keeps me mystified

But my will is weak, my time's been spent at bedsides and in bars
And love's the thing that slips away too easy and too far
I lost her again, I never made amends
What a man desires and lives for often kills him in the end

Chorus {repeated twice}
